Planning For The Future
In December 2011, Cook's School Day Care Inc. participated in it first formal full day
strategic planning session facilitated by a United Way volunteer. The participants were
Board Members, Administrative Staff and front-line Staff (past and present).
The outcomes of the day included reaching agreement about our most significant
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats as we move forward.
All early learning and child care programs across the province are facing significant
change as full day everyday kindergarten is fully rolled out. Losing a major revenue-
generating component of our programs, the jk/sk age group, has resulted in many
programs closing or at least changing how the business is operated.
The United Way facilitator assisted the group with identifying and setting attainable
immediate and future goals that will allow us to remain viable and continue to offer our
quality early learning and child care program for this community for many more years to
come.
The Board and Administrative Staff are currently working through the tasks outlined
from the day. The plan will expand to include collaboration from the front-line staff and
service users. We wish to ensure we are offering the service that the community needs.
